Rare hotel finds...
Okay, when it comes to hotel fitness rooms, I don't have high expectations. Sometimes it seems they noticed they had an extra broom closet and a yoga mat, they put the mat in there and bang, fitness room.

However, it's pretty sad that in all the hotels I've been lucky enough to stay in over the past 2 years, I can only think of two hotels who's gym had:

  • An emergency phone
  • Ventilation with adjustable climate control. (This would include adjustable blinds if the wall is all sun-facing windows.)
  • A fan - built in or stand alone - so long as the air can move around.
  • Access to water. Tap or Dispenser. Not picky.
  • Towels.
  • Here's a biggie: Disinfectant to spray down equipment or floor space.
  • Camera surveillance.
This stuff is basic. I'm not even bringing up equipment: A hotel gym with a squat rack? - we're talking impossible, so I'm not even going there. Every gym or, as they call it, "fitness room", should have everything on that list. Almost every hotel has at LEAST one or two of those things. But a hotel with all of them? You're pushing your luck.

That said, the best hotel gym I've encountered in my travels?:  Hotel Eden in Rovinj, Croatia
